Flood Gates
Holy Momentum for a Fearless Church
Sue Nilson Kibbey follows up the Abingdon Press leadership classic, Ultimately Responsible, with her latest experience-based research about how your congregation can make the shift from plateau or even decline – to opening the flood gates of spiritual upsurge. This resource is a practical “how-to” guide for pastors and church leaders who dream about releasing holy momentum into their current setting.
Whatever your church’s history, setting, or mission field, you can set the stage to unleash the floodgates of a Breakthrough Prayer Initiative, learn the skills of making an urgent case for change, shift your church’s culture to “ubiquitous discipleship,” identify and deploy new leaders and other key crucial catalysts. All of these have the power to transform your congregation into a fearless, Spirit-driven church that will make new spiritual history for Christ in your own mission field and beyond.
Hi, I’m Sue…
I’m so glad you’re here!
I’m an ordained elder in The United Methodist Church, and I’m passionate about helping leaders, pastors, and congregations center their lives and ministries in prayer that seeks God’s next breakthroughs and new possibilities—birthing renewal and fresh spiritual momentum.
In addition to pastoring congregations, I’ve served as the creator and director of the Missional Church Consultation Initiative (MCCI) for the West Ohio and Wisconsin Conferences of the United Methodist Church, among others. MCCI is a unique prayer-saturated, prayer-fueled revitalization process that has engaged more than 350 churches of all sizes and settings across the country, each jumpstarting a faithful next season of spiritual impact.
Most recently, I had the privilege of serving for five years as the inaugural director of the Bishop Bruce Ough Innovation Center at United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio, where I earned my Doctor of Ministry degree and continue to serve as affiliate faculty and a doctoral program mentor.
I’ve also had the opportunity to serve as a speaker, trainer, consultant, retreat leader, and executive coach across multiple denominations, and I’m the author of eight books focused on ministry revitalization and prayer practices.
Most importantly, my heart is for walking individually alongside leaders through prayer and spiritual discernment—listening together for God’s unique “next,” just for you.
